Publication History First published in 1992 in hardback by E. P. Dutton (New York), and in paperback by Plume in 1993, I Saw the Sky Catch Fire was greeted with highly favorable reviews and critical acclaim. The Plume paperback went through several printings and was used extensively in university classrooms throughout the United States. A German translation (Ich Sah Den Himmel Feuer Fangen) was published by Klett-Cotta in 1994. The Amadi Edition was published in 2002 in response to a continuing demand for the novel not only for African, Modern, and Comparative Literature classes but also for classes in African History and Women's Studies.
